HOWARD & TIM'S PAID VACATION - NEVER MET A GIRL I DIDN'T LIKE
Howard & Tim's Paid Vacation is what happened when Lee and musician/journalist/publicist
Howard Wuelfing had some spare time and a studio to their own. Although
the recording itself has the feel of an unfinished demo, and some of the
tunes could surely have used more development, the carefree spirit of the
sessions oozes through the tracks, with Wuelfing's Alex Chilton fixation
manifesting in more places than the Chilton cover that leads off side 2.

HOWARD AND TIMS PAID VACATION - I never met a girl I didn't like.
...Howard Wuelfing's a pesky effin' thief. Whether flauntin' words swiped
boldly from the desk o' Lou Reed or Bo Diddley (as he does here) or eatin'
soiled panties heisted from the hampers of unsuspecting hostesses (as he
does there,) he gets lotsa "weird balls" points from this boyo.
I also happen to rate him as one of the great (v. conciously) post-Chilton
pop-pooters currently stinkin' up the atmosphere and this here collaboration
with Tim Lee is a nice thing. Yeah, I've heard better versions of a coupla
Howard's heartwormed tunes and some o' Tim's turns at bat sound highly Dumptrucked,
but the whole nature of matter infers theft a lot more often that it infers
linear betterment. So, uh, get scientific.
